The network announced the show’s return date early Friday: “Roseanne” will premiere with back-to-back episodes at 8 p.m. ET/PT Tuesday, March 27.

It will stay in the 8 o’clock timeslot starting April 3. “The Middle” will move back to 8:30 for its final episodes. (“Fresh Off the Boat” will have finished its season by then.)

Production on “Roseanne’s” nine-episode revival wrapped this week. The entire original cast — Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Michael Fishman, Emma Kenney, Ames McNamara and Jayden Rey — will reprise their roles. Sarah Chalke, who replaced Goranson as Becky for several seasons, will also appear, but in a different role.

In the final season of the original show, Goodman’s Dan Conner was revealed to have died. Barr has promised the revival will explain Dan’s return.

A number of recurring guests from the original show, including Sandra Bernhard, Estelle Parsons, Natalie West, James Pickens Jr. and Adilah Barnes, will also appear.

March is shaping up as a big month for ABC. It has the Oscars on March 4, and a week later the network’s revival of “American Idol” debuts.

“Roseanne” was a top-10 series in the ratings for each of its first seven seasons. It tailed off a little in its final two years, finishing 16th in 1995-96 and 35th in 1996-97. Its then-series finale aired May 20, 1997.
