A pair of second-year CBS comedies got some good news late Monday: “Superior Donuts” and “Man with a Plan” had their runs extended for the remainder of the season

The network picked up eight additional episodes of each show, bringing their totals to 21 apiece.

“Man with a Plan” aired a full, 22-episode season in 2016-17 but was initially slated for a midseason run this year, hence the initially smaller order. It got bumped up to fall after CBS pulled “Me, Myself & I” from Monday nights after six episodes.

“Superior Donuts” debuted midway through last season and ran for 13 episodes. Its renewal was for 13 more, a pretty standard procedure for shows that have their series premieres at midseason.

The full-season orders come despite just so-so ratings for both series. “Superior Donuts” averages a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 5.07 million viewers, rising to 1.1 and 5.77 million with a week of delayed viewing.

The first two episodes of “Man with a Plan” averaged a same-day 1.0 in the 18-49 demographic and 5.41 million viewers. Delayed viewing figures for it aren’t in yet; CBS says the premiere brought in 6.5 million people after a week of catchup.

The extensions for “Superior Donuts” and “Man with a Plan” also solidify CBS’ Monday lineup. It has just one other comedy, “Living Biblically” (formerly “By the Book”), in reserve for later in the season. It will presumably join the Monday lineup after “9JKL” finishes its 16-episode run.
