2 Broke Girls has been cancelled by CBS after six seasons

TV's most relatable sitcom is the latest victim of cancellation season



Yep, CBS has not renewed 2 Broke Girls, which stars Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs as two people trying to scrape through life (aren't we all?), for a seventh season.

Deadline reports that the cancellation was due to a breakdown in negotiations between CBS and Warner Bros TV over, you guessed it, money.

After the news was announced, Kat and Beth shared a joint statement thanking the show's fans for "a wonderful 6 seasons", adding that they're so proud of their time on the series.

"We've had a wonderful 6 seasons as Max and Caroline and we thank all of you for watching and enjoying it along with us," the statement read.

"We are so proud of our time on 2 Broke Girls and of all the things this experience has given us, the most treasured is our lifelong friendship."

2 Broke Girls began in 2011 with incredibly high ratings that have steadily declined over the years, but the show was still ranking higher than renewed shows such as Matt LeBlanc's Man with a Plan and something called Superior Donuts.

E4 have shown the first five seasons in the UK, alongside that other CBS sitcom, The Big Bang Theory.

It was announced that Big Bang would be renewed for two more seasons earlier this year – which is good because that cliffhanger has left a LOT of people wanting more - as well as a Young Sheldon spin-off.

The network also renewed long-running crime NCIS and the MacGuyer reboot that stars X-Men and The Hannah Montana Movie actor Lucas Till, among a host of others.

Elsewhere in the landscape of American television, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and Once Upon a Time have both been renewed by ABC, although the former is having its budget cut and the latter is dropping some well-loved characters.
