The low-rated comedy, which is set in the DC Comics universe but focuses instead on non-superpowered people, is off the air effective immediately. New episodes of “Superstore” will move back a half-hour to fill “Powerless'” 8:30 p.m. ET/PT spot starting Thursday, with “Superstore” reruns set for 8.

“Powerless” showrunner Patrick Schumacker wrote on Twitter late Monday about NBC’s decision to pull the show: “#Powerless will not air this week or next. This, I know for sure. I can guess some other things but they’re not good. Thanks for watching.”

There’s no word on whether the remaining three episodes will see the light of day.

“Powerless” starred Vanessa Hudgens as the head of research at Wayne Security, a company that makes products to protect ordinary humans from damage caused by battles between superheroes and villains. The show also featured Danny Pudi, Alan Tudyk, Christina Kirk and Ron Funches.

The show never really took flight in the ratings, debuting to a 1.1 among adults 18-49 and falling below a 1 rating for every episode since. For the season, it averaged a 0.7 among adults 18-49 and 2.29 million viewers the night it aired. It’s the lowest-rated of the four half-hour comedies NBC has aired this season.
