The cable channel announced Wednesday that it has renewed the comedy starring and created by Zach Galifianakis for a third season. Season 2 wraps up on March 23.

“This year ‘Baskets’ has solidified its standing as one of the best comedies on television, building on the momentum of its breakout first season that brought critical acclaim and awards,” FX’s Nick Grad says in a statement. “Our thanks to [co-creators] Jonathan Krisel, Louis C.K., Zach Galifianakis and the rest of the creative team, Louie Anderson, Martha Kelly and the full cast and crew for taking us on this journey with ‘Baskets.'”

Season 2 of “Baskets” is averaging a 0.2 rating among adults 18-49 and just under 500,000 viewers the night it airs. It typically doubles its audience with a week of DVR and on-demand viewing.

Anderson won an Emmy last year for playing the mother of Galifianakis’ character, Chip Baskets. Galifianakis also plays Chip’s twin brother, Dale.

“Baskets” is the second FX series to get a renewal for 2017-18 in as many days, following on the heels of “Taboo.” It also joins this list of shows that have been picked up for next season and beyond.
