FOX has given a green light to a second season of “The Mick,” meaning you’ll get to see more of Kaitlin Olson being a comedic hot mess on FOX in 2017-18.

The network announced the pickup Tuesday, nine episodes into “The Mick’s” 17-episode first season. The show is FOX’s top-rated live-action comedy so far in 2016-17, so the renewal doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

“From the earliest stages of development, all of us at FOX had enormous faith in ‘The Mick,’ and it hasn’t disappointed,” FOX Entertainment president David Madden says in a statement. “Kaitlin is a fearless comedic force, and the rest of the cast has just proven to be phenomenal. [Creators] John and Dave Chernin have a very clear vision of what this show is, and they execute on that vision each week to perfection. We really couldn’t be happier with ‘The Mick,’ and we’re so thrilled to renew the series for a second season.”

Through nine episodes, “The Mick” averages a 1.4 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.61 million viewers the night it airs. It rises to a 1.9 and 5.11 million viewers with three days of DVR and on-demand viewing. FOX says the show delivers a total audience of 8 million across all platforms.

Olson plays an “unapologetic degenerate” (FOX’s description) who is thrown into raising her wealthy, spoiled niece and nephews (Sofia Black-D’elia, Thomas Barbusca and Jack Stanton) after her sister and brother-in-law go on the run to escape fraud charges.

The pickup also ensures Olson will continue working on two shows through at least 2017-18. Her longtime FX series “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” is renewed through a 14th season in 2019.

“The Mick” is the fifth FOX show to earn a spot on the 2017-18 schedule, following “Bob’s Burgers” (which is in the midst of a multi-season pickup), “Empire,” “The Simpsons” and “Lucifer. It also joins this larger list of shows that have been renewed for 2017-18 and beyond.
