FOX is pleased with the way “The Mick” opened, and it’s going to give the show a longer run as a reward.

The network announced Wednesday at the winter TV press tour that it has ordered four more episodes of the first-year comedy. That brings “The Mick’s” total for the season to 17.

Following an NFL game, the premiere of “The Mick” drew a strong 2.8 same-day rating among adults 18-49. Subsequent episodes in its regular home on Tuesdays have fallen well short of that mark, but its 1.2 average on Tuesdays thus far is still higher than that of any other Tuesday FOX show this season.

With a week of DVR and on-demand viewing, the first two episodes of “The Mick” have averaged a 2.8, tops among first-year comedies so far this season.

FOX will give the show another Sunday showcase on Jan. 15 following the first-ever one-hour episode of “The Simpsons.” “The Mick” will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT Sunday, then return to its regular home on Jan. 17.

“The Mick” stars Kaitlin Olson (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) as an “unapologetic degenerate” who suddenly becomes the guardian of her niece (Sofia Black-D’Elia) and nephews (Thomas Barbusca and Jack Stanton) after her wealthy sister and brother-in-law go on the run ahead of being arrested for fraud and tax evasion.

“It’s Always Sunny” writers Dave and John Chernin created the show; Olson is also among the executive producers.
