The Big Bang Theory Season 7 premiere set a new record as its biggest season premiere yet.

According to CBS, the seventh season premiere of The Big Bang Theory at 8 PM was first in viewers (18.30m), adults 25-54 (7.0/20) and adults 18-49 (5.3/18). At 8:30 PM, a second episode of The Big Bang Theory was first in viewers (19.52m), adults 25-54 (7.6/20) and adults 18-49 (5.8/17). The Big Bang Theory was Thursday night’s #1 program in these measures.

Not only did the Big Bang Theory beat all the other shows on Thursday night, but it also set a new high for Big Bang Theory premieres. In fact, compared to last year’s season premiere, The Big Bang Theory was up +11% in adults 25-54 (from 6.3/17), +6% in adults 18-49 (from 5.0/16) and added +2.64m viewers (from 15.66m +17%).

The Big Bang Theory also hit a new milestone with its best premiere day opener on CBS.com in the show’s history.

The Big Bang Theory Season 7 Premiere Ratings Adjusted Upwards, Highest Rated Episode Ever

Earlier we reported that the Season 7 premiere for The Big Bang Theory set a new ratings record for premiere episodes of The Big Bang Theory. It turns out that the earlier ratings numbers were just a little low.

The ratings for the 8:30 PM broadcast of The Big Bang Theory have now been adjusted upwards from 19.52 million viewers to 20.44 million viewers. With the additional 900K viewers, The Big Bang Theory Season 7 premiere is the highest rated episode of The Big Bang Theory ever.

The previous record number of viewers for an episode of The Big Bang Theory was a Season 6 episode that aired on January 10, 2013 and was watched by 20.0 million viewers. Key demographics were adjusted upward as well for the Season 7 premiere, climbing to 6.1/18 in adults 18-49 and 8.0/20 in adults 25-54.
