The trailer for Chris Colfer's new film Struck by Lightning has been unveiled.



Colfer wrote, produced and stars in Struck by Lightning as a high school student who blackmails his fellow students into helping him achieve his dreams of literary stardom.

Sarah Hyland co-stars in the film as a cruel cheerleader, while The Office's Angela Kinsey plays a peppy school guidance counsellor.

Christina Hendricks, Dermot Mulroney, Rebel Wilson and The West Wing's Allison Janney round out Struck by Lightning's cast.

The film is directed by Brian Dannelly, who previously earned acclaim for his 2004 comedy Saved!.

Struck by Lightning is expected to be released later this year.
