Thor: Ragnarok has once again stormed its way to the top of the US Box Office, beating out several high profile new entries

The Marvel movie made $56.6 million in its second week of release in the US, beating out all-star newcomers Daddy's Home 2 and Murder on the Orient Express.

Daddy's Home 2, which stars Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, John Cena, John Lithgow and Mel Gibson followed Thor in second place with $30 million, while Sir Kenneth Branagh's Agatha Christie adaptation trailed even behind that.

The movie, which boasts an even larger A-list cast including Branagh, Judi Dench, Daisy Ridley, Michelle Pfeiffer, Olivia Colman, Josh Gad and Johnny Depp, took just $28.2 million in its opening weekend at the US box office.

Which is a mere fraction of what Ragnorak took last weekend.

It was a worse weekend for last week's runner-up A Bad Moms Christmas, which came in at fourth place this week with $11.5 million.

The movie was followed by Jigsaw ($3.4 million), Tyler Perry's Boo 2! A Madea Halloween ($2.1 million), Geostorm ($1.5 million), Blade Runner 2049 ($1.4 million) and Happy Death Day ($1.32 million) respectively.

Another new entry this week was Greta Gerwig's directional debut Lady Bird, which took a modest $1.249 million and rounds off our top 10.

The movie stars Saoirse Ronan as a Catholic school girl figuring her stuff out in California.

Tipped for awards season success, the movie also stars Laurie Metcalf (The Big Bang Theory) and Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea).
