The Hitman's Bodyguard holds off Annabelle for a second week

Comedy defends its position by earning $10,050,000 over the weekend


The Hitman's Bodyguard has protected its slot at the top of the US Box Office, netting $10,050,000 over the weekend.

The comedy, which stars Ryan Reynolds as a celebrity bodyguard tasked with protecting a legendary hitman played by Samuel L. Jackson, has now made $39,614,004 in two weeks according to Box Office Mojo.

Horror sequel Annabelle: Creation has to settle for second place, having made $7,350,000 over the weekend.

Third place is taken by new animated release Leap!, which stars Elle Fanning as an aspiring ballerina.

The film earned $5,015,500 over the weekend.

Wind River rises six places from number 10 to number four, after earning $4,410,610. Wind River, which stars Jeremy Renner, follows an FBI agent as he teams up with a veteran game tracker to investigate a murder.

The top five is completed by Logan Lucky, which has fallen two places over the past week.

The comedy, which stars Channing Tatum and Adam Driver as brothers trying to pull off a heist during a NASCAR race in North Carolina, made $4,366,894 over the weekend.
