Crimson Peak flops as Goosebumps tops the US box office

Jack Black's Goosebumps has taken $23.5m in its opening weekend to go straight to the top of the US box office.


The film knocked The Martian off the top spot, while Crimson Peak was less than impressive in its opening weekend.

The Martian is down to 2 with $21.5m, while Steven Spielberg's Cold War drama Bridge of Spies is in at 3 with $15.3m.

Meanwhile, Tom Hiddleston's Crimson Peak is at 4 with a disappointing $12.8m.

Hotel Transylvania 2 is at 5 with $12.5m, Hugh Jackman's Pan is at 6 with $5.8m and The Intern is at 7 with $5.4m.

Finally, Sicario is at 8 with $4.5m, new entry Woodlawn is at 9 with $4.1m and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials rounds out the top ten with $2.7m.

The US weekend box office top 10 for October 16-18 is as follows:
