'Minions' dominates the US box office

Minions easily won the number one spot at the US box office this weekend.


Starring Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton, the Despicable Me spin-off took in $115m on its debut weekend.

Last week box office's reports initially said that Jurassic World was the weekend's number one movie, but final numbers showed that Inside Out was at the top spot, finally knocking down Jurassic World to second place.

This weekend Jurassic World remained in second place with $18m - adding to total receipts which now stand at $590m - while Inside Out slid to third place with $17m. Its total gross is now at $283.6m.

Terminator: Genisys went from third place to fourth place with $13.7m, adding to its total of $68.7m.

New releases The Gallows, Self/Less and Baahubali: The Beginning each occupied a spot in the top ten.

Horror flick The Gallows debuted at fifth place with $10m, while Self/Less took eighth place with $5.3m followed by Baahubali: The Beginning in ninth place with $5.3m.

Magic Mike XXL, Ted 2 and Max drop down the standings but all remain in the top ten this week.
