Guardians of the Galaxy remains number one at US box office

Guardians of the Galaxy has topped the US box office for the third week running.



The Marvel adventure, which is set in space, took $10m in earnings during its sixth weekend, bringing the total gross to just under $300m.

Staying in the second spot is Paramount's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which took $6.4m in its fifth weekend.

Chloë Grace Moretz's If I Stay is another non-mover and remains at number three, taking more than $5m.

Comedy Let's Be Cops moves up one place to the fourth spot, while The November Man moves up to number five.

As Above, So Below drops two places to four, earning $3.7m, and When the Game Stands Tall stays at number seven.

The Giver, starring Jeff Bridges and Taylor Swift, stays at eight, while The Hundred-Foot Journey remains at nine.

Scarlett Johansson's Lucy rounds off the top 10, after moving up one place from 11 last week.

The US weekend box office top 10 for September 7 is as follows:

2. (2) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - $6,500,000
3. (3) If I Stay - $5,750,000
4. (5) Let's Be Cops - $5,400,000
5. (6) The November Man - $4,200,000
6. (4) As Above/So Below - $3,723,000
7. (7) When the Game Stands Tall - $3,700,000
8. (8) The Giver - $3,591,000
9. (9) The Hundred-Foot Journey - $3,200,000
10. (11) Lucy - $1,950,000
