Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has retained its number one position on the US box office.

The reboot, directed by Jonathan Liebesman, has now taken just over $117m since opening last weekend.

However, it was a disappointing debut for The Expendables 3, which only managed to land at number four with takings of $16.2m.

Marvel's superhero adventure Guardians of the Galaxy stays at number two, taking $24.7m over the weekend.

New entries land at third and fifth place, with Let's Be Cops amassing $17.7m at number three and The Giver taking $12.76 at number five.

Elsewhere, Richard Armitage's Into the Storm fell three places to six, taking $7.7m in its second weekend, with last week's number four The Hundred-Foot Journey also down.

Scarlett Johansson's Lucy slipped down three places to number eight in its fourth week.

Step Up All In and Boyhood complete the top ten at numbers nine and ten respectively.
