Godzilla has debuted at the top of the US box office with an impressive $93.2 million.
The Gareth Edwards remake - which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Bryan Cranston - scored the second biggest opening weekend of 2014 behind Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier.
Hollywood's latest take on the kaiju icon also claimed the sixth biggest opening weekend ever for a non-sequel.
Zac Efron's Bad Neighbors fell to second place, taking $25.9m on its second weekend.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 took $16.8m in third place, dropping 52.7% from last weekend. The superhero sequel's domestic total now stands at over $172m.Disney's Million Dollar Arm - starring Mad Men's Jon Hamm - debuted in fourth place with $10.5m, while Cameron Diaz's The Other Woman slipped to fifth place with $6.3m.
Heaven Is for Real dropped two places to six with $4.4m. The religious film has now taken $82.2m over the course of five weeks.
Rio 2, Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return and Moms' Night Out also featured in this week's top ten.
