NBC unveils 2011-12 lineup

NBC has officially confirmed details of its 2011-12 primetime schedule ahead of the network's upfront presentation tomorrow.

Monday nights will be comprised of returning reality series The Sing-Off, now in a new weekly format, and controversial new drama series The Playboy Club.

Tuesdays will see the return of weight-loss show The Biggest Loser followed by the third season of Parenthood, starring Peter Krause and Lauren Graham.

Two new sitcoms will kick off Wednesday night, with Up All Night and Free Agents running from 8pm till 9pm. The second season of legal drama Harry's Law and the 13th run of Law & Order: SVU will follow.

8pm till 9.30pm will be dominated by returning comedy on Thursdays, with new seasons of Community, Parks and Recreation and The Office. New sitcom Whitney will follow at 9.30pm, with hour-long drama Prime Suspect airing from 10pm.

Fridays will see Chuck return for a fifth and likely final season at 8pm. New fantasy series Grimm will air at 9pm, with Dateline NBC following at 10pm.

Sunday nights will continue to serve as a home for sport, while several series, including new seasons of Celebrity Apprentice and The Voice, along with new drama projects Smash and The Firm, have been held over until mid-season.

"Next season begins the rebuilding of the NBC primetime schedule, and our goal is to reinvigorate our audience with a line-up of appointment television that includes our best returning shows and a variety of innovative and attention-getting new series," said NBC chief Bob Greenblatt. "We'll be placing a great deal of emphasis on how we launch each one of our programmes and on maximizing the network's strengths throughout the fall and well into mid-season."
