NBC and Ellen DeGeneres will continue their partnership for another year
Announced this afternoon, the network has officially renewed “Ellen’s Game of Games” for a third season, the news of the which comes just two weeks into the show’s current, second season. But despite having returned for its second season just last week, “Ellen’s Game of Games” has – like several other unscripted titles this year – already achieved a strong presence in the primetime ratings.
“We are delighted that America has wholeheartedly embraced this wildly entertaining and unpredictable show,” said Meredith Ahr, Head of Alternative and Reality at NBC Entertainment. “Ellen’s signature humor, coupled with the clever twists she and the producers bring to each hilarious moment, puts ‘Game of Games’ in a league of its own. We can’t wait to get started on season three.”
“Ellen’s Game of Games” has been averaging a 1.5 live + same day rating in adults 18-49 so far this season. While that’s down from its first season’s 2.0 average, the show is still pulling in solid numbers for itself, and managed to grow between its first and second episodes. The network’s decision to stick with the show for at least another year, with those kinds of numbers, comes as little to no surprise.
New episodes of “Ellen’s Game of Games” air every Tuesday night on NBC.
