The CW will be keeping things (mostly) status quo next summer

In an announcement made this afternoon, the network has officially renewed its unscripted series, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?,” “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” and “Masters of Illusion” for additional seasons, all set to air next year. The CW is also bringing back its freshman dramas, “The Outpost” and “Burden of Truth,” for second seasons, just a week or so after they each finished airing their first seasons in the US.

The network will be adding British cop drama, “Bulletproof,” to its 2019 summer lineup as well. The series, which stars Noel Clark and Ashley Walters, follows a duo of undercover cops from very different backgrounds, who work together to catch criminals in London’s East End. The show aired its 6-episode first season in the U.K. earlier this year.

The unscripted renewals come as little surprise, with “Whose Line” set to enter into its seventh season on the CW and “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” and “Masters of Illusion” now heading into their fifth, the titles have been fairly consistent ratings performers on the network.

Both “Burden of Truth” and “The Outpost” failed to make much of a ratings impact in their first seasons, however, averaging the same 0.1 live + same day ratings in the adults 18-49 demo. But the CW has a habit of sticking with its original titles for multiple seasons, and with this massive renewal order, it doesn’t look like that will be changing any time soon.

All six of the aforementioned series will air their next seasons on the CW in summer 2019. Official premiere dates will likely be set sometime closer to then.
