ABC unveils 2011-2012 lineup

ABC has officially confirmed details of its 2011-2012 primetime schedule.

The network announced that it has picked up 13 new series, although some of the programmes will air in midseason.

Monday nights will see Dancing with the Stars followed by Castle.

The first new shows - comedies Last Man Standing and Man Up - will air on Tuesdays from 8pm. They will be followed by the Dancing with the Stars results at 9pm and the second season of Dana Delany's Body of Proof at 10pm.

On Wednesdays, returning comedies The Middle and Modern Family will be joined by Suburgatory at 8.30pm and new drama Revenge at 10pm.

Thursdays will kick off with ABC's Charlie's Angels reboot at 8pm, followed by the new seasons of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice.

Friday nights will be filled with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Shark Tank and 20/20, while Saturdays will be taken up with College Football. On Sundays, Desperate Housewives will return in the 9pm slot. New shows Once Upon A Time and Pan Am will also air on Sundays, at 8pm and 10pm respectively.

New shows which have been picked up but not yet placed in the schedule are Good Christian Belles, Missing, The River, Scandal, Apartment 23 and Work It.

Courtney Cox's Cougar Town is expected to return with a slot in the midseason schedule.

ABC president Paul Lee said: "We're thrilled to be launching a really diverse and ambitious schedule that balances the strength and stability of our returning hits with a slew of bold new shows."
