'Smallville' star Laura Vandervoort lands 'CSI: NY' role

Laura Vandervoort is to appear in an forthcoming CSI: NY episode.



The Smallville actress will appear in a January episode of the long-running crime procedural, TVLine reports.

Vandervoort will play Macy - a young woman wrongly imprisoned for possession of stolen property. Newly released from prison, the vengeful Macy is determined to track down her thief ex-boyfriend for payback.

Best known for playing Kara / Supergirl on Smallville between 2007 and 2011, 28-year-old Vandervoort also starred in ABC's V remake and has appeared in 2012 movies Ted and This Means War.

It was recently announced that CSI: NY is to stage a crossover with its parent series CSI in a two-parter that will see Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) team up with DB Russell (Ted Danson) to locate his missing girlfriend Christine (Megan Dodds).

CSI continues on Fridays at 9/9c on CBS in the US. In the UK, the series is broadcast on Channel 5 at 10pm on Saturday nights.
