NBC Entertainment president Angela Bromstad has praised new show The Event. The network picked up the programme last week and Bromstad explained that it will fill the gap left by other series.
"We looked at Lost going off the air, 24 going off the air," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "We wanted something that could fill that void for viewers that was a high-octane mystery thriller.
"It's about an average guy that's caught up in this conspiracy. You follow four major characters involved in this."
Bromstad added that several people "dismissed" the show because they thought it would not compare to other series.
"I love that it was low buzz because the script was incredible, then it goes into production and you never know what's going to come back," she said. "Everybody says that to follow shows like Lost and 24 you have to hit it out of the park and therefore were dismissing The Event. And guess what? We hit it out of the park and we were absolutely blown away."
