Malcolm McDowell confirms 'Mentalist' return

Malcolm McDowell has confirmed that he will return to The Mentalist for the upcoming fourth season.



The Clockwork Orange star previously appeared in two episodes of the CBS crime drama as charismatic cult leader Brett Stiles.

McDowell told TV Guide: "I think I'm going back to do another one or two [episodes]. I love the show."

The actor also joked that he had been disappointed by the programme's recent third season finale, in which former West Wing star Bradley Whitford played Red John, the serial killer nemesis of Patrick Jane (Simon Baker).

"I always thought maybe I was Red John, but I guess I'm not," he said.

The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller recently confirmed that the fourth season will resolve the mystery of Red John's identity.

The new season of The Mentalist will air on Thursdays at 10/9c in the fall on CBS.
