Sasha Alexander has claimed that the success of Rizzoli & Isles has led to more female-driven shows on television.

Alexander admitted that her co-star Angie Harmon was unsure about her theory at first.

"I said to Angie, 'I think the success of our show last year really opened up this window for female-driven shows'," she told Zap2It. "And she laughed."

However, Alexander continued: "All of a sudden you have things like [ABC's new show] Charlie's Angels. Other female-driven shows quickly got into the mix after ours hit and I told Angie, 'You know what? That's because we were successful'.

"She said, 'Oh yeah, you'd like to think that'. And I was like, 'Hey, why not?' Pilot season had a bunch of female-buddy shows and I think that's great. The more the merrier."

Chris Vance, Colin Egglesfield, Jacqueline Bisset and Bill O'Reilly will all appear in the second season of Rizzoli & Isles, which premieres on July 11 at 10/9c on TNT.
