Starring Jennifer Lopez in the lead role, alongside Ray Liotta, Drea De Motto, Warren Cole, and more, the third season will reportedly consist of 10 episodes.

“We’re so hugely appreciative of everything Jennifer and Ray do, and know it is due to their dedication, as well as the hard work of our incredible cast and producers, that Shades of Blue has so clearly and compellingly earned a third-season renewal,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said. “This show continues to mine powerful stories that always leave us hungry for more.”

Hailing from creator Adi Hasak and showrunner Jack Orman, “Shades of Blue” focuses on a single mother (Lopez), who works as a police detective while harboring dark secrets of her own. In addition to starring in it, Lopez is also an executive producer for “Shades of Blue,” which is currently just two episodes into it second season, after premiering earlier this month.

This early renewal doesn’t come as much of a surprise either. After transitioning to its new 10 p.m. Sunday night time slot, it’s been doing consistently well in the ratings so far. It premiered to a solid 1.0 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and has gone on to perform especially well in delayed viewing numbers, maintaining a 1.6 average L+3 rating throughout the season.

With its renewal, “Shades of Blue” now joins a number of other series already renewed for NBC’s 2017-18 season as well, including “The Good Place,” “Superstore,” and freshman hit, “This Is Us.”
