Jennifer Lopez's small screen comeback has been a success as Shades of Blue has already been renewed for a second season after just five episodes.

The NBC cop drama has proved to be a hit, with the network saying it's all down to J-Lo's hard work.

Jennifer Salke, NBC's entertainment president, said: "We want to thank Jennifer, who is the hardest working woman we know, for her incredible efforts as both the star and producer of this show, as well as well as our other amazing producers and cast for all their tireless work in creating one of the most compelling dramas on television today."

The series follows shady NYPD cop Harlee Santos (Lopez), who after being caught in a lie, is forced by the FBI's anti-corruption task force to become an informant within her own unit, leaving her loyalties divided.

The series also stars Ray Liotta as Lieutenant Matt Wozniak, with Drea de Matteo, Warren Kole, Dayo Okeniyi, Vincent Laresca, Hampton Fluker and Sarah Jeffery also co-starring.

As well as Shades of Blue, Lopez is currently on the judging panel for the final series of American Idol and somehow still has time to also perform a Las Vegas residency in between - she does sound like the hardest working woman in the business.

Shades of Blue airs on NBC at 10pm every Thursday.
