Hill Harper has quit CSI: NY
The actor has played Dr Sheldon Hawkes on the spinoff since it began in 2004, but the show's ninth season finale - airing tonight in the US - will be his final episode, Deadline reports.
It is currently unclear if CSI: NY will return for a tenth season, but Harper chose not to extend his current deal before learning the show's fate.
The 46-year-old will now join USA's Covert Affairs - which is currently shooting its fourth season - as a new series regular.
His character - an ambitious CIA agent based in Latin America - is eager to land an important position in Washington, turning to Annie (Piper Perabo) and Auggie (Christopher Gorham) for help.
Covert Affairs received an order for a 16-episode new season back in September.
Harper is said to be a fan of the show and decided to sign up for a role after considering parts in several network pilots.
