Fans are going to be getting more of “The Alienist” after allTNT has announced today the official renewal of “The Alienist” for a follow-up season. However, in keeping with the show’s status as a limited series, it will be taking on a different title for its next season – “The Angel of Darkness.”
Stars Luke Evans, Daniel Bruhl, and Dakota Fanning are all set to return for the sequel season, which is expected to air sometime in 2019.
The news comes just a few weeks after “The Alienist” scored a total of 6 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Limited Series, Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Period or Fantasy Program (One Hour or More), Outstanding Cinematography for a Limited Series or Movie, Outstanding Period Costumes, Outstanding Main Title Design and Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role.

With this new story in TNT’s Suspense Collection, we will further immerse viewers into their world as they are confronted with a new enemy.”
“The Alienist” was a solid ratings performer for TNT, averaging a 0.4 live + same day rating and 1.77 million viewers. “The Angel of Darkness,” based on the book of the same name by “Alienist” author, Caleb Carr, takes place one year after the events of “The Alienist,” and centers around a case involving a Spanish dignitary’s kidnapped infant daughter.
