MTV has cancelled reality series The Buried Life after two seasons.

EW confirmed that the series will not be returning for a third run, although cast members Duncan Penn, Jonnie Penn, Ben Nemtin and Dave Lingwood have been signed to post-development deals.

Nemtin said: "We were proud of the show we had made, but it wasn't exactly the show we had dreamed of. So we wanted to work with MTV to develop the next level of The Buried Life."

The series will continue in the form of new shows and online projects on MTV's cross-platform media group MTVX.

"Buried Life is an entertainment property, but it's also about people's lives," Nemtin continued. "We're trying to nurture this whole brand and keep it going the best we can."

The Buried Life followed the four friends as they travelled across the country in an attempt to cross things off their so-called 'bucket list'.
