Big Brother has been renewed for a 14th season by CBS.

A new edition of the Julie Chen-hosted reality show will air on the network in its usual summer slot next year.

Season 13 of Big Brother will conclude tonight with either superfan Adam Poch, cocktail waitress Porche Briggs or returning contestant Rachel Reilly winning the $500,000 grand prize.

The current season has delivered Big Brother's highest ratings since 2004.

The show did, however, attract controversy when contestant Jeff Schroeder made a series of homophobic comments, and viewers sent death threats to the family of sixth-placed finisher Shelly Moore.

Executive producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan are expected to retain their posts for next year's season.
