FOX has officially handed out a second season renewal to the reality competition series, which will reportedly air sometime later this summer. The announcement comes just a little over the series made its premiere on the network at the start of 2018 and in time with its season one finale this Thursday night.

The series is hosted by Fergie and focuses on the journey of four recording artists and musicians from all throughout the music industry, as they fight to maintain their spot performing on stage in front of the show’s panel of judges. In its first season, those judges included Sean “Diddy” Combs, Meghan Trainor, DJ Khaled, and Charlie Walk. However, Walk’s time on the show came to an abrupt end last month when he was suspended following claims of past inappropriate conduct.

FOX’s renewal of “The Four” comes as little surprise at this point, following the series’ successful run throughout its freshman season. In addition to being the network’s No. 1 highest-rated new unscripted series to premiere in nearly 4 years, the series has raked in some positive numbers for itself up to this point, including an average rating of 1.4 among adults 18-49 in most current L+7/L+3 ratings.

President of Alternative Series & Specials for the Fox Broadcasting Company, Rob Wade, commented on the series’ renewal with the following:

“THE FOUR is truly a next-generation show. It has pushed past the boundaries of traditional music competition series by focusing on recording artists in an epic battle to become a superstar. And for the winner, guided by music giants Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Kahled, Meghan Trainor and Republic Records, this is just the beginning. We’d like to thank our panel, our ringleader, Fergie, the contestants and our incredible production team for delivering concert-quality shows every week. And we look forward to pushing the boundaries even further in Season Two.”

There is no word yet on who the show’s panel of judges will be in its second season, but the announcement is expected to be made sometime in the coming weeks.
