Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller's highly publicised fraud case has concluded with a prison sentence.

A Pittsburgh federal court judge ordered the reality star to serve one year and a day in prison, according to Deadline.

Miller originally pleaded guilty to concealing bankruptcy assets and not disclosing an international monetary transaction last summer, all relating to allegations that she did not include her Dance Moms earnings while filing for bankruptcy back in 2010.

The reality TV star was originally charged by the US Justice Department with bankruptcy fraud, concealment of bankruptcy assets, and false bankruptcy declarations back in the autumn of 2015.

Once she finishes serving her sentence in a California prison, Miller will be subject to two years of supervised release. She's also required to pay a $120,000 judgment and has been fined $40,000.

She will be required to surrender and begin serving her court-mandated sentence behind bars within the next 45 days.

Outside the court on Tuesday (May 9), Abby Lee Miller was reported to have told the press that she felt "relieved" and "peaceful" after the judge handed down sentencing.

The 50-year-old dance instructor and choreographer is the founder of the Abby Lee Dance Company, as well as the star of the reality show Dance Moms and a series of spinoffs.

It was through Dance Moms that Abby Lee Miller discovered young Maddie Ziegler, who has gone on to become the muse of pop superstar Sia.
