Fox has announced that American Idol will return for a 14th season.The long-running singing competition will begin auditions throughout the US from June, hitting 15 cities in total.
Despite all-time low ratings, the format still attracts an average of 12.3 million viewers every Wednesday (3.6 in the key adults 18-49 demographic).
The judges will start auditions for the next season on June 18 in Minneapolis before moving onto Portland, Columbus, Albuquerque and more.
Ryan Seacrest is also finalising his contract with the network to continue as host.
The current season of American Idol is still ongoing and wraps up on May 21 with judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr.
Meanwhile, Fox has cancelled several series, including Dads, Enlisted and Surviving Jack, as well as Greg Kinnear's Rake.
