Super Mario Maker has a chart-topping return

Super Mario Maker 2 has just been released on the Nintendo Switch, and it seems as if the return of the creative sandbox game has been a welcome one, as the game has just topped the UK physical charts for last week, overtaking Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled to get there, as reported by

Super Mario Maker’s return is the biggest Nintendo launch of the year so far, and joins the likes of Mario Kart 8: Deluxe in the top 10, which has moved from eight to five, increasing 39% in sales. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also reappears in the charts at number 10, jumping 14% in sales, while The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is just 28 copies away from reaching the top 10.

Elsewhere on Switch this version of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has also released, bumping it from 17 to nine in the charts, and the Switch version actually sold more in its first week than PS4 and Xbox One combined.

Crash Team Racing’s nostalgia-fest had a 48% decrease in sales from the week before, and just behind it is F1 2019 in third place, with almost the exact same sales as last year. Judgment then sits at number four, the new IP from Sega, and for the full top 10 list check down below. Bear in mind it was all close too, since 4,000 games separated number four from 40 in the charts.
