Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part One has received a 12A rating from the British Board of Film Classification.
The first of the two-part final instalment becomes the third Potter movie, after The Goblet of Fire and Order Of The Phoenix, to receive the rating which requires children under 12 to be accompanied by an adult. The sixth movie, Half-Blood Prince was awarded a PG rating.
The classification listing confirmed the rating had been given because the movie “contains moderate fantasy violence and threat”. A runtime of two hours and 25 minutes was also confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Motion Picture Association of America has given the movie, which stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, the equivalent rating of PG-13.
A description stated that the rating was awarded due to some sequences of intense action violence and frightening images. However that was updated today to include “brief sensuality”.
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part One will open in cinemas on November 19.
