‘Minions’ topple ‘Jurassic World’ at UK box office

The Minions may be no match for the Indominus Rex in terms of size, but the Despicable Me critters have taken down Jurassic World at the UK box office.

Minions opened to £11.5 million, ending the Jurassic sequel’s two-week reign at the chart summit. The latter still managed to add an impressive £5.7 million to its box office tally, taking its UK total to £48 million.

Jurassic World is the successful film in the UK this year to-date, topping other strong performers Avengers: Age of Ultron and Fast & Furious 7.

Elsewhere in the week’s box office chart, new releases Knock Knock and Michael Fassbender western Slow West debut at numbers seven and ten respectively.
