Taken 3 tops UK box-office ahead of Into The Woods

Taken 3 has topped the UK box office on its debut weekend on release.

The Liam Neeson-led action movie earned £6.7 million to take first place, easily outpacing Disney’s adaptation of musical Into the Woods.

The latter debuted to £2.47m, just outpacing awards-tipped Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Paddington round out the top five.

Elsewhere, the only other new release to enter the top ten was Foxcatcher. The sports drama, starring Channing Tatum and Steve Carell, pulled in £877,408 to chart at number six.
