Magic! score first UK number one single with ‘Rude’

Magic! have scored their first UK number one single with ‘Rude’.

The Canadian band charted at number two last week behind Cheryl and Tine Tempah’s ‘Crazy Stupid Love’, but strong sales and 1.4 million streams have seen their track claim the top spot on this week’s countdown.

‘Crazy Stupid Love’ drops to number two this week, with dance vocalist and producer ZHU making his UK Top 40 debut at three with ‘Faded’.

Ella Henderson’s ‘Ghost’ drops one place to four, while Britain’s Got Talent duo Bars & Melody are a new entry at number five with ‘Hopeful’. The track is the biggest selling physical single of the week.

George Ezra is down two places to six with ‘Budapest’, while Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea’s ‘Problem’ is this week’s number seven.

Charli XCX is down from six to eight with ‘Boom Clap’, ahead of will.i.am and Cody Wise’s ‘It’s My Birthday’, which is down to number nine.

British newcomer Melissa Steel has scored a Top 10 hit with her debut solo single ‘Kisses For Breakfast’, which features vocals from Jamaican reggae star Popcaan.

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ is the week’s highest climber, rising eight places to number 20.

OneRepublic’s ‘Counting Stars’ has become only the seventh single in history to achieve a full, unbroken year in the Top 75. Ryan Tedder’s band follow in the footsteps of Avicii, who reached the same landmark recently with ‘Wake Me Up’.
