Ella Henderson holds on to No.1 single

Ella Henderson has held on to the top spot in this week’s singles chart.

The X Factor star, who claimed number one with her debut single ‘Ghost’ last week, retained the crown in today’s (June 22) chart release.

She fought off competition from Australian boyband 5 Seconds of Summer, whose latest single ‘Don’t Stop’ ended up at number two.

They had been leading the chart for most of the week in one of the closest races of 2014 so far, but Henderson won out with a winning margin of nearly 3,000 copies.

Ed Sheeran falls one place to number three with ‘Sing’, while a new entry at number four sees Hertfordshire singer-songwriter George Ezra achieve his highest-charting single to date with ‘Budapest’.

Sam Smith completes the top five with ‘Stay With Me’.

Meanwhile, Gorgon City scored their second top ten single this year with ‘Here for You’ featuring Laura Welsh. Gorgon City previously reached number four with ‘Ready for Your Love’.

Demi Lovato claims her fifth UK Top 40 hit with ‘Neon Lights’, which enters at number 15, while The Kooks are at number 35 with ‘Around Town’.
