Aloe Blacc wins first solo UK No.1

Aloe Blacc has claimed his first solo UK number one single with ‘The Man’.

The singer – real name Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III – knocks 5 Seconds of Summer from the top spot with his latest track.

He topped the charts as a guest vocalist on Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’ in 2013 and reached number two with his breakout hit ‘I Need Dollar’ in 2010.

John Legend climbs three places to number two with ‘All of Me’, which becomes his highest UK chart placing to date.

Duke Dumont and Jax Jones’s former chart-topper ‘I Got U’ is down one place to number three, while Route 94 and Jess Glynne’s ‘My Love’ is a non-mover at four.

Meanwhile, Faul & Wad Ad’s ‘Changes’ slips two places to complete this week’s top five.

Pharrell Williams holds firm at number six this week with ‘Happy’.

John Martin scores this week’s second highest new entry with ‘Anywhere For You’, which debuts at number seven. It is the Swedish singer’s first solo Top 10 hit, but his fifth overall.

He has previously provided vocals for tracks such as Tinie Tempah’s ‘Children of the Sun’ and Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Save the World’.

Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne’s ‘Rather Be’ is a non-mover at eight, while Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull’s ‘I’m A Freak’ re-enters the Top 10 at nine.

5 Seconds of Summer fall nine places from number one to ten on this week’s countdown with ‘She Looks So Perfect’.

Paolo Nutini has won his seventh Top 40 hit with ‘Scream (Funk My Life Up)’, which is a new entry at 12. His third studio album Caustic Love follows on April 14.

Following her performance on The Voice last weekend, Shakira’s new single ‘Empire’ rises 36 places to number 25 on this week’s countdown.

Meanwhile, ‘My Love’ by Frankie Knuckles makes its Top 40 debut at number 29, after the house pioneer’s death on Monday (March 31).
