Bombay Bicycle Club win first UK number one album

Bombay Bicycle Club have topped the UK Album Chart for the first time with So Long, See You Tomorrow.

The London-based band’s fourth full-length album topped this week’s countdown after outselling Avicii’s True by 6,000 copies.

So Long, See You Tomorrow becomes their third album to reach the top ten, following 2010’s Flaws and 2011’s A Different Kind Of Fix, which peaked at eight and six respectively.

Ellie Goulding’s chart-topping album Halcyon slips one place to number three, while London Grammar are up three places to number four with their debut album If You Wait.

Meanwhile, BeyoncĂ©’s self-titled fifth studio album completes this week’s top five.

Within Temptation have claimed their highest charting album to date in the UK with Hydra, which debuts at number six.

“This is our highest chart entry in the UK so far,” frontwoman Sharon den Adel told OfficialCharts.com. “The reactions are overwhelming. We just want to thank our fans for continuing to champion us so strongly!

“We really can’t wait to come over and play for everyone in April, and when we play Wembley Arena on that tour, it’ll also be our biggest UK show yet too!”

Maximo Park are a new entry at number seven with Too Much Information. It becomes the Newcastle-based band’s third top ten album to date.

Further down the chart, Tina Turner’s Love Songs retrospective is a new entry at number 32, while Andre Rieu & The Johann Strauss Orchestra’s Love Letters enters at 35.
