You Me At Six score first UK number one album

You Me At Six have won their first UK number one album with Cavalier Youth.

The Surrey-based band’s fourth LP outsold Ellie Goulding’s Halcyon by almost two copies to one to top the charts this week.

Cavalier Youth serves as the follow-up to 2011’s Sinners Never Sleep, which peaked at number three.

You Me At Six frontman Josh Franceschi told OfficialCharts.com: “It’s an incredible feeling to have reached Number 1 in the UK; something I don’t think any one of us thought we could achieve.

“It’s a very proud time for us as a band and a special thanks to our management, label, family, friends and, most importantly, our fans, for their ongoing support. Thank you to everyone who’s purchased Cavalier Youth, it means everything and more!”

BeyoncĂ©’s self-titled LP holds firm at number three, spending an eighth successive week in the top five.

Avicii climbs one spot to number four with True, while Sophie Ellis-Bextor drops one to five with her fifth studio album Wanderlust

Sheryl Crow scores this week’s second highest new entry with her ninth studio album Feels Like Home. The LP – Crow’s first new material in almost four years – makes its debut at number 16 on this week’s chart.

US metalcore band Of Mice And Men score their first Top 40 album with Restoring Force, which is a new entry at 17.
