Ellie Goulding reclaims UK album number one

Ellie Goulding has reclaimed the UK number one album with Halcyon.

The ‘Goodness Gracious’ star returns to the top spot after selling 5,000 more copies than her nearest rival Bruce Springsteen.

Springsteen’s High Hopes – which became his tenth UK number one album last weekend – falls to number two on this week’s countdown.

BeyoncĂ©’s self-titled LP holds firm at number three, while Sophie Ellis-Bextor wins this week’s highest new entry with her fifth studio album Wanderlust, which debuts at four.

Wanderlust becomes the ‘Young Blood’ star’s highest charting album since her 2001 debut Read My Lips, which peaked at number two.

Avicii climbs one spot to number five with True, while US rockers Warpaint are a new entry at nine with their self-titled second album.

Scottish act Mogwai enter at ten on this week’s chart with their eighth LP The Rave Tapes, which has become the group’s highest charting album to date.
