‘Gravity’ retains UK box office top spot

Gravity has topped the UK box office for the second consecutive weekend.

Sandra Bullock and George Clooney’s space-set thriller earned £4.8 million to hold off competition from Thor: The Dark World for the second consecutive weekend.

Philomena continued its impressive box office run, retaining its position at number three with £1 million in ticket sales. The Steve Coogan and Judi Dench drama has so far grossed more than £7 million in the UK.

New releases The Counsellor and The Butler debut at numbers four and five respectively, while Bollywood movie Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela landed at ten with £348,574 from its 85 locations nationwide.

Elsewhere, both Don Jon and Dom Hemingway landed outside the top ten at 11 and 12.
