Caro Emerald wins first UK No.1 album

Caro Emerald has won her first UK number one with The Shocking Miss Emerald.

Following her 2010 top five album Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor, the singer beat last week’s chart-topper Home by Rudimental by less than 3,000 copies.

Emerald told The Official Charts Company: “I’m humbled by this exciting news. It’s such a huge recognition for the hard work we’ve put in to this record. I want to give a big thank you to all the fans and everybody who has supported us over the last few years. Thank you!”

Hugh Laurie scores his second UK top three album, as Didn’t It Rain lands at number three.

Alison Moyet earns her first top five solo album in 26 years, with the minutes arriving at five, her highest-charting LP since 1987’s Raindancing.

Lady Antebellum secure a Top 10 album at seven with Golden, while Noah and the Whale are new at 13 with Heart of Nowhere.

Savages’ debut album Silence Yourself is a new entry at 19, followed by London duo Public Service Broadcasting at 21 with Inform, Educate, Entertain.

Armin van Buuren follows his Top 10 singles success with new album Intense at 37, followed by Thea Gilmore’s Regardless at 39.
