‘Skyfall’ continues UK box office dominance

Skyfall has continued its box office dominance, earning £10 million on its third weekend to become the fifth biggest movie of all time in the UK.

Daniel Craig’s latest James Bond outing, released to mark the spy franchise’s 50th anniversary, has now grossed a huge £72m from UK cinemas alone.

The 23rd 007 movie sits behind Avatar (£94m), Titanic (£80m), Toy Story 3 (£73.8m) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (£73.1m) in the list of top-grossing films in the UK.

Madagascar 3 retains its place at number two in the chart, while new releases Argo and Here Comes the Boom debut at numbers three and four respectively.

Liam Neeson’s Taken 2 completes the top five.

Elsewhere, the only other new release to make it into the top ten is Chris O’Dowd’s The Sapphires, which pulls in £337,641 from 233 locations.
