Taylor Swift wins first UK No.1 album with ‘Red’

Taylor Swift has scored her first UK number one album with Red.

The country singer’s fourth studio LP topped the charts, after her previous efforts Fearless and Speak Now peaked at five and six respectively.

Emeli Sandé climbs six places to two with her new deluxe edition of 2012’s best-seller so far Our Version of Events.

Jake Bugg’s self-titled album drops two spots from last week’s number one to three, while Lawson enter at four with their debut release Chapman Square. Mumford & Sons fall three spots to five with Babel.

Dappy lands at six with his debut solo album Bad Intentions, equalling the peak position of former band N-Dubz’s highest-charting LP Against All Odds.

Daniel O’Donnell’s latest collection Songs from the Movies and More enters at seven, while Stone Sour land at 13 with House of Gold & Bones – Part 1.

Muse fall four with The 2nd Law to eight, with Paloma Faith leaping up 26 places to nine with Fall To Grace. Leona Lewis drops seven spots to ten with Glassheart.

Singles chart-topper Labrinth re-enters at 12 with Electronic Earth, while Of Monsters and Men climb 23 places to 17 with My Head is an Animal.

Kendrick Lamar is new at 16 with his major label debut Good Kid M.A.A.D City at 16.

Folk singer Kate Rusby is new at 22 with her latest album 20, while Genesis member Steve Hackett lands at 24 with Genesis Revisited II.

American band The Lumineers enter at 29 with their self-titled debut album. Bat for Lashes tumbles 30 places with her latest album The Haunted Man at 36.
