Elton John scores first No.1 album in 22 years

Elton John has scored his first UK number one album in 22 years with Good Morning to the Night.

His collaboration with electronic act Pnau earned the legendary singer his first chart-topper since 1990’s The Very Best of Elton John.

Pnau and John held off the challenge from Maroon 5, whose album Overexposed climbed one spot to two.

Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange drops one place to three, while Paul Simon’s re-released Graceland climbs four to four. Ed Sheeran’s + completes the top five.

Rihanna climbs up seven places to six with Talk That Talk, while Adele’s 21 climbs back into the Top 10 yet again at seven.

Nas achieves his first ever UK Top 10 album with Life is Good at eight, while Train climb eight places to nine with California 37.

Emeli Sandé falls three to ten with former number one Our Version of Events. Last week’s number one Write it On Your Skin by Newton Faulkner drops ten places to 11.

A remastered release of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar lands at 22, while Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack to The Dark Knight Rises enters at 36.

Lady Antebellum also climb 12 places to 20 with Need You Now, thanks to the renewed popularity of its lead single.
