Justin Bieber keeps Cheryl Cole off UK albums No.1 with ‘Believe’

Justin Bieber has beaten Cheryl Cole in this week’s UK albums number one race.

The teen singer’s third studio album Believe beat Cole’s A Million Lights to the top spot by just over 3,000 copies.

The album is Bieber’s first UK number one LP, and stops Cole from scoring a third chart-topper.

Paloma Faith climbs up two places to three with Fall to Grace, along with Emeli Sandé’s Our Version of Events at four. Amy Macdonald drops three places to five with Life in a Beautiful Light.

Gary Barlow’s Sing drops five places to six, while Ed Sheeran has a non-mover at seven with +.

Usher falls five to eight with Looking 4 Myself, followed by Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto at nine. Bee Gees complete the Top 10 with their Number Ones collection.

Carrie Underwood achieves her first UK Top 40 album chart placing at 11 with Blown Away, while Slash re-enters the chart at 12 with Apocalyptic Love.

Reverend and the Makers’ latest LP @Reverend_Makers lands at 16, while The Smashing Pumpkins enter at 19 with Oceania.

A number of albums re-enter the Top 40 this week, including One Direction’s Up All Night (26), David Guetta’s Nothing But the Beat (31) and Olly Murs’s In Case You Didn’t Know (35).
