Titanic has topped the Easter box office in the UK, ending The Hunger Games‘s two-week reign in the number one spot.
James Cameron’s 3D re-release of his 1997 blockbuster, back in cinemas to mark the 100-year anniversary of Titanic’s ill-fated maiden voyage, pulls in £2.8 million to secure first place ahead of Jennifer Lawrence’s action movie.
Titanic‘s 3D opening haul will be added to the £68m the romantic epic earned from its initial UK theatrical run in 1998.
The Hunger Games‘s £2.39 million gross puts it just ahead of family adventure Mirror Mirror, which collects £2.38 million over the Easter break.
The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists falls a place to number four, while last week’s runner-up Wrath of the Titans completes the top five with £1.3 million.
Elsewhere, Henry Cavill’s latest movie The Cold Light of Day debuts at number seven and Bollywood sequel Housefull 2 lands at number ten.
